Fatima Measham is a writer and speaker living west of the Werribee River (Wirribi Yaluk) on Wadawurrung Country.

Her work has appeared in Meanjin, The Guardian, The Big Issue and SBS Voices, among other places.

She wrote a fortnightly column focusing on sociopolitics for Eureka Street, where she was also consulting editor and podcast host/producer (2015-2018). She won a Gold Award for Best Column in 2018 from the Australasian Religious Press Association.

She was a Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellow in 2013, which enabled her to write No Shit, her debut essay and the first for Meanjin. In 2021 the essay was the provocation for new work by creatives in a Wunder Gym x Wyndham City project.

Fatima has also been involved in local arts events for Wyndham Arts & Culture, writing for Red Arcade, Congress and the Wyndham Arts Gallery.

She has spoken at festivals including the Melbourne Writers Festival, National Young Writers Festival and Feminist Writers Festival.

Fatima was a Non-fiction judge for the 2019 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, and convened the panel for the 2020 Awards.
